Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide life support from arrival through handoff to higher licensure care. The role requires knowledge of assessment, wide-ranging skills to manage life-threatening conditions, and ongoing care during inter-hospital transfers and non-emergency transports.

The EMT will perform patient assessments, assist in scene response, arrange transport, and initiate emergency management as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• BLS: Basic Life Support certification is required.
• EMT-B: EMT Basic certification is required.
• DMV Record Check is required.
• TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Mgt is required.
• Equivalent experience: within 1 month of hire or transfer; and within 24 months for those hired before 12/31/2023.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessment and physical exam to provide the ER physician with a clear, concise picture of the patient’s condition.
• Assists in managing co-responders to the scene of accidents, fires or medical emergencies.
• Arranges and performs timely and efficient transportation to the appropriate facility for continued patient care; monitors patient condition.
• Initiates emergency management to rectify or stabilize any abnormal condition observed in the patient.
