Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Transmission Planning Engineer (PSCAD Specialist) to join the Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection (ESSP) team. The role is based in Denver, CO, with consideration for candidates in Fort Worth, Orlando, Phoenix, and other offices, or fully remote.

You’ll support EMT transmission planning studies, model development in PSCAD, and high-quality technical documentation, collaborating with engineers and clients while contributing to leadership and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Engineer in Training Certification required.
7–10 years of direct experience in transmission planning studies (EMT includes).
PSCAD experience with complex controls, inverter/generator modeling, FACTS, and grid-forming controls.
Experience developing and tuning PSCAD models for new/existing resources.
US residency and ability to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Perform EMT work for network studies, generation/load interconnection, and microgrid modeling.
Develop generation/load/assets models based on designs; work with equipment manufacturer models when applicable.
Model tuning of control parameters to meet performance requirements across devices.
Develop controls for power plant controllers, grid-following/forming inverters, and FACTS equipment.
Lead or mentor junior engineers and support QA/QC processes.
Collaborate on business development, proposals, and client meetings.
