Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable results. You’ll work under the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure compliance with plasma collection regulations and center operations.

You will participate in donor safety, adverse event management, and systematic EHS guidance while supporting BioLife’s mission to provide life-changing therapies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs; arrange donor transport as needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical inquiries.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation; follow EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemics.
