Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist in Davenport, IA to apply EMT skills in plasma donation operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, and support the plasma center under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of nursing program with state requirements.
• Current EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P or LPN/LVN or RN licensure in the responsible state.
• CPR and AED certification on file.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and arrange appropriate emergency transport per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and seek EHS guidance as needed.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
