Job summary

Englewood Health is seeking dedicated Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-B) to render emergency medical care to sick, disabled or injured individuals, prior to hospitalization or during transport between facilities. Based in Englewood, NJ, the position is full-time in the BLS Ambulance Service with an Evening shift and variable hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• EVOC certification for driving.
• Current EMT certification (NJ/NY/PA or National Registry).
• AHA BLS certification.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Pre Hospital or Basic Trauma Life Support (Basic Level) certification.
• Hazmat awareness training within last 12 months.
• CEVO training within 3 years.
• WMD Awareness and Operations within 6 months.
• IAS 200/300, NIMS 700, NIMS 800 certifications.
• Two years of full-time BLS experience.
• One year experience within the Medical Center.
• Instructorship within 1 year of appointment: BCLS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all operational systems of the EMS Department.
• Render emergency medical care to sick, disabled or injured individuals based on signs, symptoms or complaints.
• Manage vehicles, supplies and equipment during assigned shift; communicate via two-way radio with dispatch.
• Ensure in-service vehicles, supplies and equipment are checked and discrepancies corrected promptly.
• Follow procedures set forth by medical control.
• Assist in the transportation of patients with movement devices.
• Assist in cleaning, restocking and disinfecting after each call.
• Fill out run sheets completely with required information.
• Ensure ambulance is cleaned and restocked; AED battery is charged.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the MICU Director.
• Demonstrate awareness of Medical Center and Department policies and apply them in decisions.
