Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) seeks a Market Solutions Engineer to support the electric power system model used by scheduling and dispatch software. You will work on EMS/BMS platforms, PMU applications, and Smart-Grid software, applying power systems knowledge and mathematical modeling to market and security functions.

Ideal candidates have strong Python and Linux skills, plus experience with EMS and market software.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; course studies in power systems and modeling required.
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering desired.
Experience with EMS, SCUC, RTS, Grid View, PROMOD or similar power-system software is highly desirable.
Strong Python programming and Linux command line skills desirable.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain PMU applications, EMS-based VSM, and data acquisition systems.
Maintain EMS and PMU integration for control systems.
Develop QA procedures to ensure Smart-Grid software integrity and reliability.
Develop PMU functions in coordination with NY Transmission Owners and neighboring control areas.
Provide dispatcher support and training for Smart-Grid applications (ePDC, RTDMS, ePDE, Grid-Smarts).
Develop and maintain documentation for Market Design or Network Model projects and EMS/BMS platform.
