Job summary

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) invites applications for a full-time Associate Market Solutions Engineer based in Rensselaer, NY. You will support the electric power system model used by scheduling and dispatch software, developing knowledge of NY State transmission and the EMS/BMS platform.

The role covers real-time analysis, PMU/EMS testing, and collaboration with Market Operations and Grid Operation teams; a strong background in power systems and software is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field required; MS preferred.
• Experience in Electrical Engineering and/or Operations Research with software simulation.
• Experience with EMS, SCUC, RTS, Grid View, PROMOD, AMPL, MATLAB or GAMS.
• Strong Python programming and shell scripting skills.
• Background in power system models and wholesale markets.
• Analytical problem solving and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintain PMU applications, EMS visualization, and VSM.
• Support EMS/SCADA integration and data exchange.
• Develop QA procedures for Smart-Grid software.
• Assist testing of PMU functions with transmission owners.
• Provide dispatch support for Smart-Grid applications.
• Develop docs for market design and network model projects.
• Lead test planning for new EMS/BMS platforms.
• Coordinate with Energy Market Operation and Grid Operation teams.
