Job summary

Laurel Ridge Community College seeks a 9-month grant-funded faculty member to lead and teach the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program. The instructor will use multiple teaching methods and instructional technologies to engage students, aiming for success, retention and completion.

The role involves traditional, hybrid, and online courses, with opportunities to develop curricula, degrees, and industry partnerships, while serving diverse student populations and communities across Laurel Ridge

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in emergency medical services or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Currently certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMTs) at the Paramedic level and possess or be eligible for Paramedic certification in Virginia.
Demonstrated medical experience with verified field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care as an EMS provider at the Paramedic level.
Knowledge of the current National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards and evidenced-informed clinical practice.
Understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Responsibilities

Teach EMS in traditional and non-traditional settings, including hybrid/online courses.
Collaborate in development of new curriculum, degrees, certificates, and trainings.
Strengthen relationships with K-12, higher education, industry, and community organizations.
Engage in service, innovation, and support student success, retention, and completion
