Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Lincoln, MT, seeks Emergency Medical Dispatchers to handle urgent medical calls and coordinate response resources. You will gather patient and incident data, verify locations, and apply approved medical dispatch protocols to guide responders.

Requires a high school diploma and may require CPR and EMS dispatcher certification. Overnight shifts, weekends, and overtime may be part of the assignment in a continuous emergency operations environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent commonly required.
• CPR certification and additional coursework may be required.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification prior to appointment may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
