Job summary

Richmond Ambulance Authority is seeking a System Status Controller to monitor EMS communications in real time, triage calls, and coordinate unit deployment under the Communications Lieutenant. You will apply IAED protocols, manage CAD data, and support incident response with accuracy and calm under pressure.

The role requires high attention to detail, strong multitasking and clear communication with field crews, hospitals, and public safety partners, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EMT certification (Virginia) or higher.
• EMD certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and determine appropriate response level.
• Triage calls using MPDS/IAED protocols and update CAD with accurate data.
• Monitor ambulance deployment and adjust based on availability and acuity.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, hospitals and public safety partners.
• Maintain situational awareness and document deviations or incidents.
