Job summary

UPMC in Harrisburg is hiring a Full-Time Communications Specialist to support the office. The role requires EMT/Paramedic licensure or NREMT certification, and involves night shifts 7pm-7am on a rotating 12-hour schedule.

Responsibilities include reporting injuries, documenting in dispatch systems, coordinating with transport teams and hospitals, maintaining confidentiality, and providing clear customer service under pressure. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Paramedic license (PA) or NREMT-P preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Emergency operations/dispatch center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reports injuries and completes the appropriate documentation to a supervisor promptly.
• Coordinates communications between transport teams, faculty physicians, and referring and receiving hospitals.
• Documents and retrieves information/data on computer networks including interventions and patient care information.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information at all times.
• Adheres to scheduling requirements, including shift requests and on-call duties.
