Job summary

Mecklenburg EMS Agency is seeking Telecommunicators to work within our Central Medical Emergency Dispatch (CMED) center, answering, processing, and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency 911 calls to support EMS and Fire units.

This essential role requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to type at least 40 WPM, FEMA IS-100/200/700 completion, and preferably NC EMS Dispatch certification; prior EMD/EMT/Fire Service experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent
• Current North Carolina Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification preferred
• Prior experience as EMD/EFD/EMT/EMT-P/Fire Service preferred
• Must complete FEMA IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700
• Ability to type at least 40 WPM

Responsibilities

• Answer, process, and prioritize E911 and non-emergency calls from the public.
• Use MPDS to process and prioritize EMS and Fire response requests.
• Use CAD map, Power Map and PSAP information to identify incident locations.
• Coordinate with outside resources (Language Services, Poison Control, Nurse Line, etc.).
• Monitor EMS and Mecklenburg County Fire Units via radio and CAD systems.
• Maintain certifications through continuing education.
