Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Medical Office Specialist to support outpatient front desk operations, including check-in, scheduling, registration, and check-out. You will ensure patients have a smooth, positive experience and accurate data is captured in the EMR.

The role requires strong customer service, multitasking, and EMR proficiency. A high school diploma or GED and 1+ year of customer service experience are expected, with travel to multiple locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years experience in a customer service setting.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to travel to various locations.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office/Google Suite).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and visitors, manages check-in/check-out with courtesy.
• Obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information.
• Collects copayments and responsible balances; verifies eligibility.
• Ensures referrals and required forms are obtained and filed.
• Enters patient data accurately into EMR and supports scheduling.
• Communicates with staff and providers; escalates issues as needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and supports front-end operations.
