Job summary

Greater New Bedford Community Health Center is seeking a Health Information Technician II to manage patient medical records and related EMR tasks in a fast-paced primary care setting.

The role requires 2+ years in a medical records environment, strong clerical skills, and proficiency with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks/EPIC). Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese in addition to English is preferred, with a commitment to serving low-income and minority communities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a medical records department.
• Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred (eClinicalWorks/EPIC).
• Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese in addition to English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and route requests appropriately.
• Screen incoming calls and release general information about services and privacy policies.
• Provide health information to authorized external requests (patients, insurers, attorneys).
• Attach and route incoming faxes within the EMR (Patient Documentation section).
• Scan paper correspondence into the EMR according to procedures.
• Respond to requests for medical information, including emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
