Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support teachers and students with IEPs in elementary and high schools. The role involves one-on-one tutoring, assisting with daily living skills, feeding, and supervising non-ambulatory students under teacher direction.

The successful candidate will have a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (60 college credits or Work Keys/Parapro) and CPR training, plus the ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain

Qualifications

• Must have paraprofessional license (ISBE) or equivalent through 60 college credits or Parapro/work keys option.
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required as a condition of employment.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and maintain basic written reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities under supervision and according to IEP.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal care assistance including hygiene where needed.
• Assist with daily living skills and positioning equipment for students with disabilities.
• Support teachers in maintaining records and behavior notes; accompany students on trips and to activities.
• Perform CPR and operate basic classroom equipment as directed.
