Qualifications

• Passed the ETS Para-Pro Assessment with a passing score of 450.
• Completed two years of full-time study (48 semester credits) with 9 hours ELA and 9 hours Math.
• Earned an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science degree including 9 hours ELA and 9 hours Math.

Responsibilities

• Assists in meeting instructional needs under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Interacts appropriately with students and creates an environment conducive to learning.
• Helps students with personal possessions.
• Assists in maintaining discipline according to school regulations and the assigned teacher.
• Assists with handling of specialized equipment, software, and assistive devices as directed.
• Attends faculty meetings, parent conferences/IEP meetings when requested.
• Keeps classroom materials organized and maintains confidentiality.
• Accompanies students to other classes and activities.
• Assists with feeding, diapering, toileting, and health-related duties as required for Head Start students and students with disabilities.
• Makes wheelchair/equipment adjustments as needed.
• Lifts and moves students as necessary.
• Assists with medical needs after proper training.
• Participates in educational program implementation and professional development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
