Job summary

East Baton Rouge Parish School System is seeking a Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in a special education setting. You will assist with instructional programs and self-help activities, under the teacher's guidance.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, maintaining a neat classroom, supervising students, and aiding teachers with records and reports as needed. A strong emphasis on safety and confidentiality is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college credit hours).
• Associate’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities.
• Assist in implementation of classroom programs including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs.
• Work under general supervision of the principal and immediate direction of the certified teacher.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Support supervision of students during lunch, bus, and playground duties.

Education
