Job summary

East Baton Rouge Parish School System is seeking a Paraprofessional to support teachers and assist students with disabilities in a special education setting. You will help implement classroom programs, including self-help and behavior management, while working under the supervision of the principal and certified teacher.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, maintaining orderly classrooms, assisting with inventory, records, and reports, and supporting substitute teachers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 48 college credits or an Associate's degree or ETS Parapro score.
• Alternative: two years of college or higher education can satisfy education requirement.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Helps maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assists teachers with inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment.
• Maintains administrative records and prepares required reports.
• Provides orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assists students with physical disabilities including transfers and positioning.
• Provides for physical needs and personal care under proper training.
• Helps manage student behavior, including crisis intervention when needed.
• Develops motor skills and conducts instructional exercises with students.

Education
