Job summary

Suffolk Public Schools is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide school-based OT services, including evaluation, treatment, and consultation, to enable students to access special education programming.

Under the Director of Special Education, duties include developing IEP/504 plans, supervising OT assistants, maintaining documentation for Medicaid billing, and collaborating with staff, families, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Virginia Department of Health Professions license required.
• NBCOT certification required.
• Bachelor degree in a discipline applicable to assignment.

Responsibilities

• Develop IEP/504 OT services (direct and/or consultative) for eligible students.
• Perform and document evaluations to determine eligibility for services.
• Provide consultation to educational staff and parents regarding student progress and strategies.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings to determine student placement and services.
• Supervise licensed occupational therapy assistants and document supervision.
• Maintain confidential documentation including evaluation reports and Medicaid billing records.
• Travel to district buildings and professional meetings as required.
