Job summary

Birch Family Services in Queens, NY is seeking a dedicated direct care assistant to counsel, assist and train individuals with developmental disabilities in personal care, travel and life skills to maximize community functioning.

You will work under program standards, complete AMAP during probation, maintain First Aid/ CPR certification, and support safety, daily living tasks and social integration to promote independence and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Experience: Minimum 1-year experience with developmentally disabled population preferred.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals by helping with daily living activities and home living skills.
• Assist with personal care, mobility and transportation as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care, incidents and progress.
• Provide a safe, clean environment and monitor health and safety of individuals.
• Assist with social skills development and community integration.
