Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist people with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities living in residential settings. You will provide direct care and support under supervision, following a person-centered plan to promote independence.

Responsibilities include teaching daily living skills, assisting with meals, budgeting, transportation, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provides necessary supports identified by the Person-Centered Planning Team, coordinating with families and program teams.
• Teaches and supports daily living tasks such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, and household chores.
• Assists people to develop daily living skills following their Person-Centered Plan.
• May monitor medication administration and assist with medication management.
• May perform crisis intervention and provide First Aid or CPR.
• Helps plan social activities and participates in planning teams.
• Transports people or provides mobility training to attend appointments or events.
• Documents activities in the electronic case management system daily.
• Works cooperatively with the support team and attends required trainings.
