Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute to teach the approved curriculum when the classroom teacher is absent. The position covers 10/1/26 through 2/26/27 and pays $31.50 per hour.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a valid Colorado teaching license (or CDE Application Receipt for 90 days), and lives in Colorado. This temporary role supports student learning and aligns with DPS's commitment to equity and high-quality education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
• Valid Colorado teaching license (DORA) or CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.
• Commitment to equity and high-quality education for all students.
• Residence in Colorado while employed.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students to encourage and support achievement.
• Monitor and enforce classroom behavior per district policy.
• Observe, evaluate, and report student performance and health.
• Prepare lesson objectives and materials aligned to curriculum.
• Deliver instruction using varied teaching methods and technology.
• Assess and grade tests and assignments; report grades in district systems.
• Communicate with parents and colleagues to support student progress.
