Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute to teach grade-appropriate curriculum while the regular teacher is absent for an extended period. The role is TEMPORARY: August 3, 2026 - November 6, 2026, with applications due online via the DPS job board.

Responsibilities include counseling students, maintaining classroom discipline, and documenting student progress. A Bachelor’s in Education and a Colorado teaching license are required, with a Colorado address and ability to meet

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field required.
Valid Colorado CDE teaching license required (or CDE receipt valid for 90 days).
Commitment to equity and dismantling inequities in our community.
Permanent Colorado address required.

Responsibilities

Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
Monitors and enforces student conduct per policy.
Observes, evaluates, and records student performance and health.
Prepares lesson outlines and materials per curriculum guidelines.
Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons.
Presents subject matter using varied methods and technology.
Instructs students individually and in groups.
Prepares and grades tests and reports grades in District software.
Prepares attendance and activity reports.
Communicates with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve issues.
