gpac is seeking an experienced Employment & Litigation Attorney in Iowa to join a well-established firm. The role blends employment counseling with civil litigation and offers a long-term path toward ownership.

The attorney will handle matters from inception to resolution, advise on workplace issues, and represent clients before state and federal agencies. Strong writing and client-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• 5+ years of employment, labor, and related litigation experience.
• Active Iowa Bar admission or ability to obtain admission promptly.
• Strong litigation, legal writing, negotiation, and client counseling skills.
• Ability to independently manage cases and client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Handle employment, labor, and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution or trial.
• Counsel employers on workplace issues, including discipline, termination, leave, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and investigations.
• Handle discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, restrictive covenant, and other employment-related claims.
• Represent clients before the EEOC, Iowa Civil Rights Commission, Department of Labor, and other agencies.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, employment agreements, policies, handbooks, and related documents.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Develop strong client relationships and participate in business development.
