Job summary

Confidential Employer. a California-focused labor and employment law practice, seeks an associate to handle employment litigation across California.

You will manage matters through discovery, depositions, motions, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation, with increasing case ownership under seasoned attorneys in a collaborative boutique environment and hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• 2+ years of litigation experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, and litigation case management.
• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple active matters.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• California labor and employment litigation experience preferred.
• Employer-side employment litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle employment litigation matters through various stages of the litigation lifecycle.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Manage written discovery and assist with complex discovery strategy.
• Take and defend depositions as experience progresses.
• Assist with single‑plaintiff employment claims and complex employment litigation.
• Work closely with senior attorneys and partners to develop case strategy.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court proceedings.
• Help prepare matters for dispositive motions, settlement, arbitration, and trial.
• Communicate directly with clients and develop strong client-service skills.
• Take on increasing case ownership and responsibility as your experience grows.

Note:

Candidates must be active members in good standing with the State Bar of California and have 2+ years of litigation experience. California employment litigation experience is highly preferred.
