Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an experienced employment litigator to lead sophisticated California labor and employment matters in a boutique environment. You will handle single-plaintiff, class actions, PAGA matters, and trial preparation across regional, national, and Fortune 500 clients.

You will own litigation strategy, direct discovery, take depositions, work with experts, and counsel employers on risk and strategy in a hybrid Sacramento-based role.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar membership in good standing.
• 6+ years of California labor and employment litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage significant litigation matters.
• Experience handling complex class actions and PAGA matters.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead single-plaintiff, class action, PAGA matters through all phases of litigation.
• Develop litigation strategy with relationship partners and take ownership of execution.
• Direct discovery and take and defend depositions.
• Work closely with expert witnesses on sophisticated employment matters.
• Draft and argue dispositive and other significant motions.
• Appear in court and represent clients in trial and arbitration proceedings.
• Lead settlement negotiations and advocate for clients during mediations.
• Prepare complex matters for trial and arbitration.
• Advise employer clients on litigation strategy, employment issues, and risk.
• Build trusted client relationships while independently managing significant matters.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Active California Bar membership in good standing

• Experience handling complex class action and PAGA matters
• Experience with class certification, dispositive motions, expert discovery, and trial preparation
• Experience handling single-plaintiff FEHA-related claims
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and interpersonal skills
• Sound judgment, initiative, and a collaborative approach
