Job description

Interim Employment Legal Counsel - Contract

We are seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join an established in-house legal team on an interim basis for an initial 10-month assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded employment lawyer to work across a broad range of employment law matters within an international business. The role will involve advising on complex employee relations issues, employment disputes and litigation, alongside supporting global employment law projects and policy reviews.

With regulatory changes anticipated in January 2027, the successful candidate will also play a key role in monitoring legislative developments and helping the business prepare for emerging legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on employment grievances, complex employee relations matters, employment disputes and litigation.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused employment law advice to HR teams and business stakeholders.
  • Support the harmonisation of Terms of Business (TOBs) across the organisation.
  • Conduct a global review of LGBTQ+ policies, identifying inconsistencies and recommending appropriate improvements.
  • Monitor employment law developments and support preparations for upcoming regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to wider global employment law projects and policy initiatives.
  • Manage competing priorities effectively, adapting to evolving business needs and providing flexible legal support.
Skills and Experience
  • A qualified lawyer with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Strong employment law experience, ideally gained in-house or within a comparable commercial environment.
  • Demonstrable experience advising on employment grievances, employee relations issues, disputes and litigation.
  • Experience supporting employment policy reviews, harmonisation initiatives or international employment law projects is highly desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • The confidence to manage a varied workload and respond effectively to changing priorities.
