A leading government agency in Rhode Island seeks a manager to oversee a field office, ensuring effective delivery of employment and training services. The role involves supervising staff, managing claims processing, and maintaining relationships with clients and employers. Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and have experience in personnel management.
To manage and direct a small (volume of claims) field office; or to supervise operations within the central office or a larger office such as adjudication, claims clearance, or the claims counter; or to assist in managing a larger office or a section of the central office to ensure the effective delivery of employment and training services, unemployment insurance, or temporary disability insurance benefits to clients; and to perform related work as required.
Works under general supervision with some latitude to exercise independent judgment and initiative; work is reviewed through consultation and reports to ensure conformance with policies, rules, and procedures of the department.
Plans, organizes, reviews, and evaluates the work of technical and clerical staff.
Working knowledge of placement, referral, and claims processing systems; familiarity with Rhode Island Employment Security, Temporary Disability Insurance, and Job Training Partnership Acts, and relevant federal statutes; understanding of office management and supervision principles; knowledge of industries, occupational requirements, and employment conditions in the state; ability to assess staffing needs; capacity to interpret complex directives, policies, or documents; maintain effective relationships with employers, clients, and the public; resolve disputed claims involving laws and precedent cases; train, manage, and evaluate staff of a small office or unit; and related capacities and abilities.
Education: Graduation from a recognized college with a bachelor’s degree in business, personnel administration, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field.
Experience: Employment in a personnel generalist role involving recruitment, interviewing, training coordination, employee benefits, or similar functions in a public or private organization, with some leadership responsibility.
Or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
