Position Overview

In partnership with the Director of Talent Development, the Early Talent Specialist will facilitate a strategy to build a talent pipeline to Davey’s careers with education, vocation, and workforce partners. They will partner with the business to discover and develop relationships, while establishing goals for full-time employment of graduates and measure company investment per person hired. The Early Talent Specialist will be a relationship manager, serving internal company clients first, with strengths in navigating competing organizational priorities to achieve desired outcomes.

Job Duties
  • Manage, facilitate and assist with building content for an internal Microsoft SharePoint site, a resource for Davey’s recruiting communications. Content includes a calendar for college career fairs, registration information, attendees, and resources for participation, plus additional content of interest for managing relationships with schools.
  • Build reports communicating organizational engagement with specific colleges and institutions. Discover additional investments made by the business , and make available to a broad executive and management audience in the organization.
  • Coordinate academic scholarship programs on behalf of Davey and external foundations. Includes notifying institutions of scholarship opportunities, ensuring students are selected by the schools, funds are awarded, and coordination with operations for in-person congratulatory visits from an alumni or Davey leader. Provide content for Davey’s public relations team and use in social media.
  • Build and support internship programs for the residential and commercial tree care business, while exploring organizational interests in utility arboriculture and landscaping career paths.
  • Facilitate local career fair participation with the operations and the talent acquisition team.
  • Partner with corporate communications to incorporate Davey’s Employer Value Proposition with recruiting collateral.
  • Conduct an annual employee survey updating academic credentials in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Track and communicate alumni length of service post-employment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills, including the ability to listen, receive feedback, serve, partner, and share outcomes with the business.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to lead, manage, and supervise projects and initiatives. Influence and work beside recruiters and operations to ensure organizational outcomes.
  • Excellent computer and analytical skills. Ability to access reporting software, interpret data, and tell contextualized stories about Davey’s talent.
  • Prior talent acquisition experience with colleges or academic institutions required. Ability to navigate school career centers and build relationships with college faculty.
  • Previous experience with utility forestry, arboriculture, landscaping, green industry, marketing campaigns, the use of social media, or search engine optimization preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time seasonally.
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development , or related field.
