Job summary

Salisbury University is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to lead a broad range of employee and labor relations activities. You will consult with leadership, train staff, resolve conflicts, investigate complaints, and develop policies and processes, while coordinating with the Union.

This full-time, exempt role requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience, with strong knowledge of HR laws, confidentiality, and professional communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR, labor relations, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience directly related to duties specified.
  • Thorough understanding of HR laws, regulations, and contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide employee and labor relations activities including consulting, training, conflict resolution, and investigation of complaints.
  • Develop, interpret, and implement HR policies and processes; prepare related reports and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Union on all union-related matters and manage performance assessment processes.
  • Oversee ADA and Workers’ Compensation administration.

Job Posting:JR102064 Employee Relations Specialist (Open)Department:SU Human Resources Office-Compliance & Regulation, PMPosition Type:RegularOpen Date:08-06-2026Close Date:$78,000 - $81,000Job Description:Job SummaryThe Employee and Labor Relations Specialist will provide a broad range of professional employee and labor relations activities including but not limited to: employee consulting, training, conflict resolution, complaint investigation, policy and process development, application, enhancement and interpretation, and the preparation and delivery of related reports recommendations. They will work directly with the Union on all union related matters and will be responsible for the performance assessment process, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Workers Compensation administration.Required QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or a related fieldExperience: 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Certifications / Licenses: Other knowledge, skills, and abilities: Thorough understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines related to HR and contract negotiations. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Ability to develop, implement and interpret policies and processes, adapt and apply guidelines, regulations, policies, and procedures to all programmatic aspects. Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, mediation, negotiation, conflict resolution skills. Additionally, must employ exceptional organization and planning, prioritization, analytical, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Further, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Workday is required.Preferred QualificationsEducation: Master's Degree in a related fieldExperience: Professional training in labor law or collective bargainingCertifications / Licenses: PHR/SPHR or SHRM CP/SHRM-SCP, SHRM Workplace Investigations Credential certification and higher education experience is preferred.Additional Job Information:The position is a full-time, exempt, state role with comprehensive benefits.Priority will be given to applicants who apply by August 20, 2026.
