The Employee Relations Specialist (Hybrid, 2 days onsite) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing employee relations programs and policies. This role provides HR consulting and expertise, focusing on promoting a positive workplace culture while addressing issues between employees and the organization. The Employee Relations Specialist works closely with operations, management, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment laws and policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints, resolving conflicts fairly and promptly.
- Participate in talent assessments, leadership development, performance management, and core HR processes.
- Develop and implement employee relations policies ensuring legal compliance.
- Guide employees on policies, facilitating communication between employees and management.
- Analyze situations to recommend solutions that mitigate risk and benefit the business and employees.
- Assist in performance management, including reviews and disciplinary actions, advising managers accordingly.
- Review data to identify trends and improve employee retention and engagement.
- Conduct audits for compliance, providing feedback and developing action plans.
- Participate in hearings, depositions, and investigations related to employment disputes.
- Collaborate on employee engagement initiatives to enhance satisfaction and retention.
- Build rapport as an ambassador of the HR team across all employee levels.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze retention trends, and suggest improvements.
- Work with training teams to develop and deliver training sessions.
- Partner with internal teams to address employment-related needs.
- Mentor and guide less experienced HR team members.
- Collaborate effectively with support and field employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Human Resources Management or related field.
- 7+ years of HR generalist experience in a multi-state, multi-site environment, preferably in hospitality or retail.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certifications like PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of employee relations, engagement, and HR best practices.
- Extensive knowledge of employment laws and compliance.
- Experience in leadership, coaching, and development.
- Ability to influence management and employees at all levels.
- Flexible approach based on operational needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Knowledge of FMLA/CFRA and ADA processes.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR-related technology.
- Ability to prioritize under pressure and work independently.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish required.
