Job summary

Suburban Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Estimating & Process Engineer to convert customer requirements into accurate cost estimates and complete manufacturing process packages. You will liaise with Sales, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable production.

You will develop labor estimates, create drawings and work instructions, support new product launches, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a manufacturing/engineering field or related technical discipline.
• Experience creating labor estimates, routings, BOMs, drawings, and visual work instructions.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and reading mechanical/electrical drawings.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and engineering-change processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, technical-writing, communication, and project-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings and technical docs to prepare accurate estimates.
• Identify missing or unclear requirements and document questions and risks.
• Develop labor estimates for setup, fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing, and handling.
• Establish operation sequences, staffing, cycles, and production volumes for estimates.
• Estimate costs for materials, components, tooling, and packaging.
• Create CAD models, assemblies, and production drawings using CAD software.
• Translate concepts into controlled manufacturing drawings and documentation.
• Develop repeatable manufacturing methods and BOMs with approvals.
• Create routings, standard work, and labor classifications.
• Support prototypes, trials, and new-product launches.
• Provide hands-on technical support to production teams.
