Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Attorney III (NS) to represent the department in eminent domain actions, from investigation to appeals. Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar
• Three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience
• Knowledge of eminent domain law and litigation procedures

Responsibilities

• Represent the Department of Transportation in eminent domain litigation at all levels of complexity
• Prepare and deliver legal presentations to the Right of Way Review Board, the Secretary’s Review Board and others
• Prepare deeds, contracts, releases and other legal instruments
• Represent the State in criminal appeals, including briefs, petitions and oral arguments
