Job summary

Duke Energy's Emerging Technology Office (ETO) drives the strategic use of new tech across generation, storage, transmission, and customer solutions. The Technology Development Manager will lead cross-functional teams, coordinate technology assessment, and oversee pilots, demonstrations, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

You will monitor trends, build partnerships with industry, startups, and academia, and contribute to regulatory filings and communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or Computer Science plus 7+ years of related work experience; or a High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of related work experience.
• Experience leading technology assessments, including data gathering, business case development, evaluation of alternatives, and data-driven recommendations.
• Ability to interpret technical information and apply it to business and technology development decisions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to influence across organizational levels.

Responsibilities

• Monitor emerging technology trends, market developments, and industry activity to inform ETO strategy.
• Lead technology assessment, road mapping, and evaluations for pilot projects and demonstrations.
• Develop test plans, analyze results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and manage project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
• Support regulatory filings and external communications requiring technology development information.
