Job summary

Baltimore Aircoil Company, Inc. invites interns to join the Emerging Technologies team in Jessup, MD to explore thermal energy storage, heat transfer, water treatment, and related technologies.

You will design and assemble small to medium test modules, run performance and reliability tests, and support numerical modeling using available data sets. Ideal candidates are seniors or MS students in engineering with hands-on machining experience, CAD skills (Autodesk Inventor), and data acquisition

Qualifications

• Majoring in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Materials preferred).
• Seniors or MS students preferred.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD required; Autodesk Inventor preferred.
• Hands-on machining experience required.
• Working knowledge of DOE principles, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Working knowledge of data acquisition equipment setup and operation.
• Proficient in Excel; advanced knowledge of Excel VBA, Matlab, or similar programming language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Emerging Technologies team to develop and validate new thermal energy storage, heat rejection, heat transfer technologies, water monitoring and treatment, carbon capture, and/or related technologies
• Design and assemble small and/or medium scale test modules
• Design and run small and/or medium scale performance and reliability testing equipment and procedures
• Support development of numerical performance modeling tools based on the available data sets
• Identify and qualify alternative design and materials of construction options
• Support technology scale-up activities (e.g. product concept development, cost modeling…)
