Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store operations. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position and is offered for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, stocking, store signing, and loss prevention, while maintaining a safe, customer-friendly shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to established practices.
• Assist in inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls; conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies as per handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in absence of store manager.
• Review operating statements for trends, labor, profitability, and inventory turn; identify expense control opportunities and shrinkage.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
