Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, managing inventory, stocking, and store needs. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist with recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, and cash handling while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and maintaining a safe, customer-friendly environment across store operations.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Perform mathematical calculations including percentages and basic operations.
• Know cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Understand inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Know store security policies and cash controls.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Help merchandise and stock management ensuring proper presentation.
• Assist in inventory management and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and participate in opening/closing activities.
• Manage cash deposits and security procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and costs.
