Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and store operations. The role focuses on developing an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a limited period, with emphasis on customer service and financial integrity.

The ideal candidate will assist in recruiting, manage stock, and ensure cash handling and security practices are followed, while maintaining a clean, safety-conscious store

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Basic math calculations including percentages and totals for daily operations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and operate IBM cash register functions to generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and conduct inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets and optimize stock levels.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and support store operations.
• Operate store in the store manager’s absence and review operating statements for trends.
