Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising employees, staffing, inventory control, stocking and receiving. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, inventory management, cashier controls and ensuring a safe, well-run store environment. The position may require travel with limited overnight stays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements for business trends and opportunities.
