Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking a Junior Scheduler / Project Controls Consultant to support our growing project advisory practice in the US. This entry-level role targets professionals with hands-on scheduling experience who want to expand in CPM, project controls, and construction advisory.

The successful candidate typically has around two years of experience with general contractors or construction teams and will work with senior schedulers and project teams across building and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree as specified in the qualifications.
• Approximately 2+ years of relevant construction industry experience.
• Practical experience developing or maintaining construction schedules.
• Understanding of construction sequencing, milestones, and the relationship between design, procurement, and construction activities.
• Basic understanding of CPM scheduling principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of detailed construction project schedules.
• Develop and update CPM schedules based on project scope, sequencing, and contractor work plans.
• Support preparation of baseline schedules, schedule updates, recovery schedules, and short-term look-ahead schedules.
• Review contractor schedule submissions for completeness, logic, sequencing, durations, and compliance with project requirements.
• Monitor project progress and incorporate actual progress into schedule updates.
• Identify critical and near-critical activities, schedule constraints, and potential impacts to project milestones.
• Assist with analysis of schedule variances and changes to the critical path.
• Work with project teams to collect schedule information, progress data, and supporting documentation.
• Assist in preparing schedule narratives, progress reports, schedule graphics, and management presentations.
• Support schedule impact assessments and preliminary delay analyses under the direction of senior scheduling and claims professionals.
• Assist with evaluating change orders and potential time impacts.
• Review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, contracts, progress reports, RFIs, submittals, and change documentation, to understand project sequencing and schedule impacts.
• Participate in project meetings and schedule review meetings with clients, contractors, designers, and other project stakeholders.
• Support broader project controls activities, including progress measurement, reporting, cost and schedule integration, and project performance analysis.
• Maintain clear and organized documentation supporting schedule updates and analyses.
