Job summary

Dewberry's Richmond, VA office is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM). The APM supports the Project Manager by handling client communications, coordinating design reviews, and maintaining project documentation to meet client goals and budget.

With progressive responsibility, the APM will take on sharper scheduling, lead fieldwork, attend meetings, and help ensure timely delivery. This role provides a clear path to greater PM responsibilities within a collaborative engineering environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a construction professional (engineer or contractor).
• EIT or PE credential is required/advantageous.
• Knowledge of construction processes and familiarity with AIA and VA state contracts.

Responsibilities

• Copy PM on all client/architect/consultant communications.
• Assist in fieldwork and occasionally lead it.
• Attend design meetings and issue minutes when PM is unavailable.
• Organize and direct in-house meetings under PM direction.
• Contribute to personnel loading and detailed scheduling with PM.
• Help prepare storyboarded timelines and project schedules.
• Maintain design binder and project documents under PM guidance.
• Coordinate disciplines and outside consultants with PM.
• Support submission reviews with PM and reflect changes in drawings/specifications.
• Assist in arranging pre-bid conferences and record minutes or addenda as needed.
• Assist at bid openings and prepare bid tabulation.
