Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Civil Engineer to join our Southeast Transportation Engineering Team in Tampa, FL or Orlando, FL. This full-time role provides hands-on involvement in planning, design, development, and construction of transportation infrastructure.

You will work with a team to prepare design documents, calculations, and CAD drawings, attend design meetings, and contribute to project documentation while growing professional skills through mentoring and real project experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
• Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, spreadsheets, and technology.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and professional policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support design teams in the execution of project delivery on a range of project types including highway construction and re-construction, complex interchanges, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
• Provide technical input during various stages of project, including preliminary design, final design and contract documentation including cost estimates and specifications.
• Perform basic design tasks, engineering calculations, and drawings using computer-aided design (CAD).
• Attend design meetings and coordinate with team members.
• Develop memorandums and other written technical documents.
• Maintain positive team relationships and collaborate with cross-disciplinary staff.
