Job summary

VEG is hiring a part-time Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line emergency team in the DC area. You will work with doctors and the team to provide gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care in high-stress moments, from triage to discharge.

You're expected to have 1+ year of experience, AVMA-accredited education, and be credentialed in the state. Our VEGgies enjoy learning opportunities, flexible schedules, and supportive mentorship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; AVMA-accredited veterinary tech degree preferred.
• Credentialed veterinary technician in the state where VEG practice is located.
• 1+ years of veterinary technician experience; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Proficient with practice management software and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person with care during emergencies.
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments.
• Administer medications, monitoring, IVs/CRIs, transfusions as needed.
• Communicate effectively as a team member and contribute to care plans.
• Perform CPR as trained (RECOVER CPR certification encouraged).
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection and tubing placement.
• Assist anesthesia, including for fragile patients.
• Use advanced techniques like central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds.
