Veterinary Emergency Group The PC seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Shift Lead) for Austin, TX (Cedar Park). The role focuses on leading shift operations, ensuring top-tier patient care, and empowering VEGgies with coaching and clear direction.

You’ll coordinate patient flow, manage staff coverage, and support leadership on ongoing coaching and development, all within a fast-paced emergency environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant, preferably in emergency or specialty medicine.
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills are required.
• Ability to guide others with empathy and maintain a people-centric approach.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient status and team bandwidth visibility across shifts.
• Direct daily workflow and adapt to unexpected situations.
• Assign and adjust shift roles with clarity and care.
• Step in on the floor as needed and model calm under pressure.
• Coordinate breaks, manage conflicts, and lead shift transitions.
• Communicate clearly and elevate key issues to leadership.
• Turn downtime into learning opportunities for the team.
• Flag incidents to support growth and transparency.
