Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant in San Jose, CA. You will support your team, comfort pet parents, and learn the ropes in real time, handling triage, treatments, and patient care from day one.

This role offers growth opportunities toward credentialed technician paths, with training provided and opportunities to advance within a fast-paced veterinary emergency environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.

Responsibilities

• Triages incoming patients and guides them toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing, and diagnostics, including bloodwork and imaging.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with credentialed staff.
• Manage IV fluids, blood products, and medications.
• Join patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer training (provided).
• Grow into advanced responsibilities such as ultrasound and catheterization.
• Work in outpatient and inpatient settings, per hospital needs.
