Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Chantilly, VA seeks a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to ensure top-tier patient care and strong team support. You’ll manage shift workflow, coach staff, and maintain calm under pressure while delivering compassionate service in a fast-paced ER environment.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in veterinary technician roles with emergency experience, CVT/RVT/LVMT credentials, and a passion for mentorship and growth within VEG.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/RVT/LVMT) or enrolled in VEG Credentialing Support Program.
• 1+ years in a veterinary technician/assistant role; emergency or specialty experience preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Leadership instincts and ownership mindset.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Keep a clear pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot during unexpected events.
• Ensure shift roles are assigned clearly and adapted as needed.
• Lead on-the-floor coaching and team huddles for smooth transitions.
• Coordinate breaks and model calm under pressure; support leadership with coverage.
