Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant - Shift Lead for our Clearwater, FL hospital. You will oversee shift workflow, ensure top-tier patient care, and empower VEGgies to perform at their best.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician preferred (CVT/RVT/LVMT/LVMT).
• At least 1 year in a veterinary technician or assistant role, EMS experience preferred.
• Experience in emergency or specialty medicine is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of clinical workflow and team dynamics.
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient status and team workload during shift.
• Manage daily workflow and adapt to unexpected events.
• Assign and adjust shift roles with clarity and care.
• Step in on the floor to assist as needed.
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model composure.
• Lead shift transitions, huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly and escalate key issues appropriately.
• Turn downtime into learning moments for the team.
• Flag incidents with transparency and focus on growth.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and coaching.
