Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Maryland is seeking a Nursing Trainer to grow our VEGgies. You’ll lead with curiosity, coach with compassion, and tailor training to all learning styles while building confidence and careers in veterinary emergency medicine.

You’ll split time between on-the-floor mentoring and strategic development, develop content, and ensure training aligns with VEG’s culture and emergency standards. Join a team focused on learning, leadership, and impact.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of the VEG practice; VTS in ECC/internal medicine/anesthesia a plus.
• Strong knowledge and skill in emergency medicine.
• Previous training experience preferred.
• Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Partner with leadership to identify individual and team training needs.
• Assess assistants and credentialed technicians through direct observation and real-time immersion.
• Drive advancement through VEG’s Cultivate program.
• Implement VEG training programs and serve as the go-to training lead at your hospital.
• Split your time between on-the-floor mentoring and strategic development.
• Provide tailored, hands-on training for all learning styles and skill levels with patience and understanding.
• Organize peer training opportunities and build a strong mentoring culture.
• Collaborate with nursing managers and professional networks to broaden impact.
• Develop and refine training content (presentations, videos, simulations, and assessments).
• Ensure all training aligns with VEG’s culture, mission, and emergency standards of care.
• Continually evaluate and improve leveling programs for assistants and technicians.
