Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group is seeking a compassionate Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Part Time) in Seattle, WA. You will support triage, treatments, and patient care alongside credentialed staff, with growth pathways into anesthesia support or specialty roles.

The position requires flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced ER environment. The role offers hands-on learning, mentorship, and opportunities to advance within VEG’s open-concept hospitals and 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary tech program a plus.
• 1+ years in veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR knowledge.
• Able to lift up to 25 kg and work in a noisy environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, guiding them to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing, and diagnostics including bloodwork and imaging.
• Collaborate with veterinary team on anesthesia and sedation setup.
• Manage IV fluids, transfusions, and medication administration.
• Support both outpatient and inpatient care from exam room to treatment area.
• Join rounds to stay informed on patient status and continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification through training.
