Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul is seeking a Program Assistant to provide 24-hour awake coverage at Sarahs Hope Shelter in Baltimore, MD. The role focuses on shelter operations, guest welfare and safety, and crisis support to clients and staff.

The PA will work with case managers and volunteers to ensure dignified, compassionate service and to empower guests toward stability and self-sufficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to relate with others in a respectful manner and work as a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential 24-hour awake coverage and manage day-to-day shelter operations.
• Support shelter guests, crisis intervention, resources, and referrals.
• Coordinate daily activities, meal distribution, record keeping, and safety procedures.
• Mediates conflicts and maintains a peaceful, respectful environment.
